copyright rules should exist to punish people who steal art for harmful reasons (like using the name of a medicine product to sell non-medicine or stealing someone's art and telling people you made it), and not to stop people from using art and making derivative art. think about the early days of the internet, when it was a place seperate from copyright, and think about all the things first created then. AMVs, YTPs, fanart, fanfiction, all of those artforms were unheard of before the internet! (and, if they were, were underground due to some people getting in legal trouble) creativity thrives in a world where derivativness is not only legal, but normal! idk its probably the youtube pooper in my brain talking :P
